JMR's mission is to deliver customized design consulting solutions for every client's goal. We pride ourselves on delivering and surpassing expectations, maintaining open communication that strengthens and streamlines the entire design process.
Each project we work on - small, large and everything in between - is a creative challenge that we find interesting in its own way and meet with equal enthusiasm.

Joseph M. Rousseau started his career in the field more than 18 years ago. At the age of 15 he was working with a high end residential construction company as a carpenter. After 7 years with the company, he left to start working with a high end, award-winning design firm in South Norwalk, Connecticut. JMR graduated with honors from the New York Institute of Technology with a 5 year degree of Architecture.

Over the next 7 years with the firm, he gained extensive experience drafting, design consulting and project managing. The experience greatly enriched his understanding of the design process, working directly with the clients to express their goals and desires. Depending on the type of job and scope of work JMR collaborates with other design consultants, architects, civil and structural engineers to ensure the project is done in accordance with state and international code.

Residential

Residential projects range from small to large upscale single-family dwellings, multifamily residences and many in-between projects. We have many successful projects converting older single-story houses into completely new homes often allowing a family to remain in a favorite neighborhood instead of moving away. Our other residential work is multifamily residences like our most recent project in Southport, Connecticut which has sixteen townhouse units of about three thousand square feet each.

These are luxury units with two car garages underneath two full stories above. Projects like this involve working closely with our client but also coordinating the permitting process and other tasks to assure ourselves and our clients of keeping the project on schedule and minimizing problems that delay progress or increase job costs.

Commercial

Our commercial work also ranges in size and scope. Projects have included restaurants, building fit outs for business and medical offices, warehouse/testing facility, Long Island Ferry depot – documentation of existing and design of some new areas.  

Regardless of project size or type no job is insignificant. Our efforts to provide the best design service with construction documents is the same for a small job as it is for a multi-million dollar project. We seek and value our client’s involvement and participation. It is important to work closely with our clients to assure them of obtaining the desired results.
